Governing bodies vary in size and in the balance in the various types of members they have.  The balanced membership of the East Riding College Corporation ensures that it has the benefit of views from the community served by the College, its learners and staff, its local authority and the business community.  All governors are appointed as individuals - including governors who are elected by the staff and student body.  They are required to put the interests of the Corporation and the College first and are not allowed to accept a mandate from any other organisation.

The Members of the Corporation are:

Peter Archer, Business Member Peter is relationship manager with the Nat West bank and has worked in banking for 30 years.  Peter serves on the Audit Committee.

Sheridan Ball, Business Member Sheridan is a solicitor that specialises in family law.  She is currently paired with the Art, Design & Media curriculum area and she serves on the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee.

Derek Branton, Principal Derek attends all meetings of the Corporation and its committees and is a member of the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee, the Property Projects Group and the Search, Governance and Development Committee (ex-officio).

Laurie Cross, Co-opted Member Laurie is a local councillor for the Minster ward in Beverley and is a retired Dean of Faculty from the University of Lincoln.  Laurie serves on the Audit Committee and is paired with the Key and Basic Skills area.

Salil Datta, Co-opted Member Salil is a retired eye surgeon.  He is currently paired with the Hair & Beauty Therapy curriculum area and he serves on the Quality Standards Committee.

Alex Denholm, Local Community Member Vice Chair of the Corporation Alex is Chair of the Audit Committee and the Quality Standards Committee and is a retired bank manager.  He is actively involved in voluntary work and a number of charities.  He also serves on the Property Projects Group and is paired with the curriculum areas of Humanities and Engineering.  Alex is also a Fellow of the Corporation.

Michael Glover, Business Member Mike is principal of Michael Glover LLP, a chartered surveying company based in Beverley and he is a member of the Property Projects Group.  Mike is paired with the Construction & Technology curriculum area.

Richard Harrap, Local Authority Member Richard is a local councillor for the ward of Bridlington.  He has 25 years' experience in the retail travel agency business and 6 years as assistant to a Member of Parliament.  Richard serves on the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee and is paired with the Leisure & Hospitality curriculum area.

Richard Lacey, Business Member Richard is a chartered accountant and director and partner of a local chartered accountants company.  He is Chair of the Search, Governance and Development Committee and also serves on the Audit Committee and the Property Projects Group.  Richard is currently paired with the Learner Services department.

Steve Lesko, Staff Member Steve is a Key and Basic Skills lecturer at the College and is paired with the Early Years & Care Services curriculum area.

Alison Michalska, Local Authority Member Alison is Director of Children, Family & Adult Services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council and her previous background lies in social care and health.  Alison serves on the Quality Standards Committee and is currently paired with the College's Faculty of Services to People.

Steve Munro, Local Community Member Steve is a chartered accountant and director of finance and pricing of a local credit services company.  He serves on the Remuneration, Finance & Human Resources Committee and is currently paired with the Faculty of Technology and Creative Studies at the College.

Viv Parker, Co-opted Member Viv is senior advisor in partnerships at the University of Hull, serving on a number of local partnership committees and forums.  Viv serves on the Quality Standards Committee and is paired with the Quality and Teaching  Standards Unit of the College.

Stevie Scott, Business Member Stevie is head of human resources and training at Chem-Dry UK in Beverley.  She serves on the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee and the Quality Standards Committee and is paired with the ICT & Business curriculum area.

David Thacker, Local Community Member Chair of the Corporation Dave is retired head teacher of Driffield School and also has experience of teaching in further education.  He serves on the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee and the Search, Governance and Development Committee (ex-officio).  Dave is currently paired with the Foundation Programmes curriculum area and Offender Learning and Skills provision.

Steve White, Staff Member Steve works as an IT technician at the College and he serves on the Quality Standards Committee.  Steve is currently paired with the Trade Union Studies curriculum area.

Simon Wright, Business Member Simon is owner-director of Communiqué Advertising Limited in Beverley and his professional background lies in marketing.  He is Chair of the Remuneration, Finance and Human Resources Committee and is paired with the College's Employer Engagement & Marketing unit.
