Full-time Apprenticeships Part-time Higher education Hobby learning

Gallery Hair, Bridlington

After taking a full-time course in Hairdressing at East Riding College in 2002, Jenny Pearce went to work at the Bridlington salon Gallery Hair before taking on the business.
Since then, she has employed three apprentices. One is now a permanent employee, while Charlotte Stephenson is currently in the first year of her Apprenticeship.
Jenny said: "Education is life-long, as is the importance of keeping up to date with current skills.
"Employing apprentices has enabled me to further my own professional development, by recently achieving my assessors award.
"This award will benefit my apprentices immensely, having a work-based assessor in their place of employment."
She added: "Charlotte and my other apprentices have progressed well while working in the salon and having their day at college.
"This helps to keep them enthusiastic and motivated with both their practical and academic studies.
"Apprentices are all valued members of my team at Gallery Hair and are treated like any other member of my staff would be."
