Apprenticeships are work-based courses which involve learning and gaining qualifications while working for an employer. An apprentice works at the employer's premises, gaining practical experience and skills whilst working towards the NVQ level two qualification which is relevant to their job. They will normally work full-time with the employer, with one day per week (during term-time) spent at East Riding College. However, some apprenticeships do not require college attendance and are achieved solely in the workplace.
East Riding College has a number of Apprenticeship vacancies to fill by March 31. Take a look at them here.
As well as being an excellent way to gain qualifications and earn a wage at the same time, they have benefits for employers, who have the opportunity to employ enthusiastic workers and help them develop into fully skilled staff.
Advanced Apprenticeships are based around an NVQ level three and for many people are the logical progression from an Apprenticeship. The aim of the Advanced Apprenticeship is to develop employees further and prepare for future positions such as supervisors, technicians and managers. Many universities and colleges will accept an Advanced Apprenticeship as part of the entry requirements for a degree or diploma course.
