The Train to Gain initiative helps employers to invest in skills, giving employees the ability, confidence and motivation to deliver real business results.
Funded by the government, through the Learning and Skills Council, Train to Gain can help businesses:
- Get the essential skills to boost business performance
- Improve business efficiency and increase profits
- Help staff grow in motivation and confidence
Two of the key elements of Train to Gain are the free advice service and the funding which can lead to many people taking courses at no cost to their employer.
As organising and implementing training can be challenging and time-consuming for employers, a dedicated broker from East Riding College will take on much of the hard work, identifying quality courses, provision and business support.
Train to Gain works to further the skills of all kinds of people, including contracted employees (full and part-time), self-employed people, volunteers and employment agency workers.
Full or partial funding is available through Train to Gain for the following:
- An employee's first full level two qualification (equivalent to five good GCSEs)
- Literacy, numeracy and English language skills for employees who do not already have a full level two qualification
- A number of additional level two qualifications.
- Contributions to level three qualifications (equivalent to two A-levels)
- Apprenticeship programmes
- Leadership and management skills
- Contributions to wage costs for staff attending training
