Report December 2009
At the start of the 09-0 season East Riding College entered its inaugural match in the East Yorkshire Division 1. After entering numerous small-sided tournaments in 08-09 and achieving various successes it was decided the College would compete at the regional level. A wonderful start against Wyke College showed the array of talent the College team has at its disposal with Ben Johnson's relaxed play and Dan Brooke's raw energy and enthusiasm. The good start was followed by a fiery encounter with local rivals Scarborough Sxith Form, one which was too much for the nexly formed side to handle. Scarborough played with the composure and tempo of a team clearly well experienced together compared to East Riding College's somewhat inexperienced team - mixing students from the Bridlington and Beverley campuses was never going to be an easy task.
The following matches have shown an incredible development of teamwork and play resulting in a narrow loss to Wyke College and an excellent win over the usual champions of the area Bishop Burton College. With national cups coming up here's hoping the side can build on good recent form and take the college onto the final stages and league glory.
