Wyke College 1st team 3-1 East Riding College 1st team
East Riding looked to take on a Wyke team who have always caused them problems in the past. East Riding started well with play down the left wing by Firth and Faulkner which lead to a chance put over the bar by Faulkner.
Wyke reacted well and had control in the middle from the start, good play by them ended in a goal when a ball over the top went to Wyke's left midfielder who passed the ball in the centre for an easy tap-in.
Wyke kept controlling the game and no player on East Riding team was keeping up with the play from Wyke. The second goal came when good play from front to back ended up with a ball placed over the top which Barkworth didn't deal with. The Wyke striker pounced and headed the ball in from five yards
East Riding reacted to this and started to play good football in the centre with Staveley and Pilmoor playing the ball out to Firth and Jones on the wings. This gave Faulkner and Salter chances which were saved well by Wyke's goalkeeper.
Play down the left wing by Wyke again was causing East Riding trouble but the defence consisting of Thornton, Wain, Morritt and Barkworth swept up well. This resulted in a 2-0 score line at half time.
East Riding came out in the second half with a much better attitude to the game. Firth had been substituted at half time for Warley and this ended up nearly as a perfect substitution when play from the middle from Staveley saw Warley, Faulkner and Salter playing some good football which resulted in a chance which should have been put away by Salter if it wasn't some good defending at the back by Wyke.
East Riding looked to sharpen up at the back with Wain and Morritt the two centre backs coping with any pressure that was put onto them. Play from left back Barkworth and right back Thornton also tightened up and started to look solid at the back.
Wyke did have a few chances in the second half with a free kick which seemed to be going into the top corner if it had not been for M Wain tipping it out of danger. Wyke also had another good chance when good play down the left wing ended up with the ball in the East Riding danger area which M Wain again dealt with well with a good double stop. Another chance was also cleared off the line with some good defending by Morritt
East Riding looked to try and create opportunities and pounce on Wyke's missed chances. Play in the centre from Staveley and Pilmoor kept getting East Riding in good areas and play down both wings from Warley and Jones ended again with a couple of chances for Salter and Faulkner which again were saved and put over the bar.
East Riding did get one back with about 10 minutes to go. Wyke pushed up for a free kick which was headed away by Wain to Faulkner who then played a one two with Salter and took a shot which was well saved by the Wyke goal keeper, only for the rebound to fall to Warley who tapped in.
East Riding then tried to get a point when a kick by M Wain was flicked on by Jones to Faulkner who sliced the cross. As East Riding looked to pounce, Wyke pushed up and they eventually put the game to bed in the dying seconds when a crazy run from East Riding's goalkeeper M Wain ended in him losing the ball and the Wyke striker scoring into a empty net.

East Riding College 1st team 10 - 1 Yorkshire Coast College 1st team
East Riding fielded a new look team as a few of the regulars were unavailable. However this did not stop them starting the game strongly creating a chances in the first few minutes, the best chance coming from a Ricky Salter long range strike which hit the post. The game turned on 10 minutes when James Faulkner was harshly sent off for a dubious challenge. Being reduced to 10 players inspired East Riding to increase their work rate and five minutes later Ricky Salter opened the scoring after a long run by Josh Pilmour ended with him squaring the ball for a close range strike. Yorkshire Coast reacted strongly, looking for a quick equaliser and their striker came closest, hitting the post from 18 yds. Ryan Chapman was also called upon to make two close range saves to keep the home team in the lead. East Riding settled and after beating two players Levi Fox was brought down and Alex Staveley slotted home from the spot. Ricky Salter quickly made it 3-0 after an individual effort saw him nip round the centre half before bending the ball around the keeper. Yorkshire Coast weren't taking advantage of the extra man and the home team continued to play some good football keeping possession for long periods.
East Riding started the second half confidently again and Kane Firth ended a good passing sequence with a long range shot that slipped under the keeper's arms, making it 4-0. Levi Fox added a fifth on the hour with a powerful strike after a cross in to the box was defended well but the rebound wasn't closed down. The teams were levelled on 70mins when a Yorkshire Coast player received a second yellow after reacting badly to a good tackle and the visiting team were struggling with Ricky Salter adding another two goals quickly to take his tally to four in the game. Yorkshire Coast got their consolation goal with an outstanding long distance strike from 35 yards which lobbed over the goalkeeper. East Riding College maintained the pressure in the latter stages of the game, Josh Pilmour, Liam Boucher and Louis Worsley getting their names on the score sheet. East Riding looked to add more but Jonny Morritt, who had played excellently at the back, saw his solo run end with a close range scuffed shot going out for a throw-in.
Men of the match - Alex Staveley and Ricky Salter.

WIlberforce College 1st team 5-3 East Riding College 1st team
East Riding College looked to bounce back after a heavy defeat against St Mary's College the previous week, East Riding started well with good play in the midfield by Froggatt, Staveley, Rollinson and Chapman. Early chances came for Faulkner and Robinson but neither could capitalise.
East Riding looked on top all the way through the early stages but it was Wilberforce who made one of their early chances count. A corner was put in but wasn't cleared in many attempts by the East Riding defence and was then put away well by the Wilberforce striker.
East Riding looked to carry on their football and replied straight away after a pass by Chapman gave Faulkner a chance. Still with a lot to do Faulkner ran down the line and hit the ball into the top corner with a good finish to make it 1-1.
East Riding carried on their good play with Wain, Jones, Warley and Barkworth looking steady at the back. Play from the midfield looked good who were opening up chances for East Riding to pounce. The second goal came when a ball from the back by Warley got Rollinson through on goal. He seized the opportunity for East Riding to go 1-2 up.
East Riding looked settled with all the team shutting players down in every position, with Staveley, Froggatt, Rollinson and Chapman looking tight and compact. A third came for East Riding when a tackle by Wain retrieved the ball and he then played a good pass to Faulkner who took it past the keeper and hit the ball in the bottom corner not long before half time.
East Riding had a shaky second half, the ball not sticking in the midfield which had been changed to Wain who had come out of goal. Wilberforce got a goal back straight away with a ball through midfield to the Wilberforce striker who got past the defence and scored to make it 2-3.
Wilberforce came out in force after getting themselves back in the game. An equaliser came when a mistake by Wain was costly and the Wilberforce striker pounced and placed it into the bottom corner. East Riding didn't learn from their mistakes and Wilberforce pounced on their opportunity. Another goal came when a throw-in was not dealt with by the defence and it was again turned in by the striker.
East Riding's heads were put down and play all over the field wasn't sticking. Countless opportunities were opening up for Wilberforce with Wain, Jones, Barkworth and Shore struggling to cope. The last goal came for Wilberforce when a throw wasn't dealt with again by the defence and the ball was turned in by the Wilberforce striker. A bad day at the office for East Riding. Final score 5-3.

East Riding College 1st team 2-5 St Mary's College 1st team
East Riding looked to carry on the good football they have played in the last two games against a St Mary's side that always have a strong team. East Riding started slowly with St Mary's players running the show in centre midfield, with Dale Barkworth, Johnny Morritt and Alex Staveley trying to get into the game.
The first goal came from St Mary's when a ball from the wing was lost and played well by the St Mary's strikers. Dale Wain went to challenge but could not stop the ball being played in which the St Mary's striker pounced on for 1-0. East Riding players appealed as the striker seemed to have pushed Luke Stennett in the back but the referee gave the goal and a deserved lead to the visitors.
East Riding tried to recover with play in midfield getting a little better but again coming to nothing as the St Mary's players were shutting them down well all over the park. A second goal came when a ball down the middle was played well and Dale Wain got pulled out of position to try stop the attack which cut open the defense and ended up with the striker tucking it away well. A third blow came quickly after that as East Riding again failed to press the ball and the direct pass from the full back to the striker resulted in a neat one two which was clinically finished.
After a strong half-time talk East Riding College started the second half strongly. A change in system and a few words from the manager saw them getting at the St Mary's midfield. East Riding's midfield of Aidan Jones, Morritt, Warley and Barkworth were shutting down the play and for the first time in the match were first to the ball. East Riding were pressuring the St Mary's area and got a goal early in the first half, with good play by Morritt, Jones and Luke Froggatt leading to a James Faulkner tap-in.
East Riding were spurred on by this goal and the new energetic team were playing some good football. Pressure from the wings by Barkworth and Froggatt ended in a corner that was whipped in low and hard and with a swing of the left foot by Morritt was luckily cleared off the line by the defender who knew little about it.
The game was much more balanced and East Riding again were playing some good football but the away team were trying to break on the counter and they added a freak fourth when a deep cross dragged Ryan out of position and resulted in the striker's cut back hitting Wain in the face for an unstoppable own goal.
East Riding didn't stop and carried on with some good play, creating the goal of the game. Stennett, with a strong tackle at the back, passed it to Karl Thornton who linked well with Morritt before the ball back was whipped into the area for Wain to head in the top corner from 12 yards.
East Riding looked to get another goal to put more pressure on St Marys but overloading players forward gave the opportunity for St Mary's to break which ended in a tap in to finish the match 5-2. East Riding have time to reflect and learn on the different performances in both halves before they travel to Wilberforce College next week.
Man of the Match - Karl Thornton

East Riding College 1st team 2-1 Hull College 1st team
East Riding College looked to carry on their winning ways against rivals Hull College after having a few fixtures cancelled in recent weeks. East Riding had a slow start with the team slow to react on a cold afternoon. Aiden Jones, Johnny Morritt, Alex Staveley and Louis Warley couldn't seem to pass the ball around on the poor muddy pitch.
As the first half went on the play got better for East Riding, with good play in the middle by Morritt and Staveley going through to James Faulkner who put the ball wide of the goal. East Riding created other good openings with Faulkner, Warley and Luke Stennett all having chances to open the scoring but failing to test the keeper. Both teams were struggling to get the ball down and play and Hull College got through on goal when a quick throw in wasn't dealt with and the striker finished neatly from close range.
The goal rocked East Riding College. Play was poor with them giving possession away all over the pitch. As half time approached East Riding created their best chance when play by Jones, Morritt, Luke Froggatt and Faulkner caused a goal mouth scramble which ended up with the ball bouncing off the post into the keeper's hands.
Half time 1-0
The second half started and East Riding looked more energetic with Stennett, Dale Wain, Dale Barkworth and Karl Thornton looking solid from the start and Morritt and Staveley pressing their opponents, which allowed Faulkner more of the ball up top with Froggatt supporting well.
Hull College tried breaking through with some good play but the solid midfield and defence coped well. The first chance of the half came when a good run from Wain through the middle ended up being flicked to Faulkner who touched it to the keeper. East Riding looked on top going into the latter stages of the second half, as play by Morritt and Staveley put Faulkner into the box. He then was brought down with a good shout for a penalty which was turned down by the referee. Faulkner created his own chance after running from the halfway line into the six-yard box only to poke wide instead of squaring the ball to the open Froggatt.
This chance motivated East Riding and they eventually equalised with 10 minutes to go with some good play down the left. Warley passed to Froggatt who held it up well and released it to Faulkner who slotted the ball confidently past the keeper.
With two minutes left to play East Riding never gave up and with the team lifted they continued to pile on the pressure. In the final minute an in-swinging corner was headed wide from close range which would surely have sealed it. Pressure finally told after normal time when in a huge defensive header by Wain bounced awkwardly in front of the Hull centre half who missed it only to see Faulkner run in behind and lift the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Man of the Match - Faulkner

East Riding College 1st team 6 - 2 Bishop Burton 1st team
East Riding looked to come back from a first game defeat to Wyke College as they played local rivals Bishop Burton College. East Riding College in a new 4-3-3 formation started well with a solid midfield comprised of Jones, Pilmoor and Barkworth who took control of the game and moved the ball well. The additional attacking support play from Faulkner and Marshall was causing early problems for Bishop and East Riding saw three long chances saved well by the opposition keeper.
The early pressure turned into a goal when some good hold up play from Froggatt assisted a bit of brilliance by Faulkner who rounded the keeper to make it 1-0. East Riding College looked to push on from the goal and a few minutes later Jones hit a 20-yard shot but failed to disturb the keeper.
East Riding maintained their pressure when Morritt and Faulkner hit good shots which looked like they would go in if it wasn't for the Bishop Burton keeper who made two excellent saves. East Riding looked to dominate in the air all over the pitch with Stennett, Wain, Warley and Morritt looking solid at the back. The aerial dominance was shown on 15 minutes as a Faulkner corner was whipped in well for Morritt who finished well with his head from close range.
ERC looked to extend their lead when Marshall hit the crossbar with a volley from 18 yards. Bishop Burton reacted to the early pressure and got back into it on 25 minutes as their number 9 turned neatly in the area and slotted the ball into the net. Chapman didn't let this goal ruin his confidence and he continued to organize the defense and distribute the ball well.
The second half started and Bishop Burton were playing well and were pushing forward in numbers to once again try and break through the defence and get back into the match but Morritt and Stennett both made excellent recovery runs to stop any potential attack. Warley at full back was defending well but provided attacking support too, resulting in a Froggatt shot that flew over the bar.
East Riding started to play some more good football and pushed their big men forward to try to get a goal and this pressure resulted in a free kick which Faulkner converted from 25 yards into the top corner. East Riding carried on well with good play all over the pitch and strong tackles from Jones and Pilmoor stopped Bishop Burton playing their usual football.
On 65 minutes Faulkner got his hat-trick when a one on one chance was finished well to put the game to bed at 4-1. As East Riding got stronger Bishop Burton looked weak in certain areas and on 70 minutes Marshall finally got his name on the score sheet as Jones passed him the ball and got one on one with the keeper which he put in the net confidently. ERC introduced Robinson and Auty who instantly impacted the game with good defensive work by Robinson and some attacking runs from Auty.
Bishop Burton got their second when a bit of luck gave them the ball which ended up as a easy tap in but East Riding didn't take long to reply as a ball from Pilmoor was crossed well and a good finish from Faulkner made it 6-2. East Riding should have made it 7 in the 90th minute when a drop from Bishop Burton keeper allowed Marshall to aim at an open goal but the upwards shot flew over the bar and into the local housing estate. Overall, this was an excellent team performance that displayed some good football and individual pieces of skill.
Men of the match: James Faulkner and Dale Barkworth.

ERC 1st team 1 - 4 Wyke College 1st team
East Riding College started their season against one of the strongest teams in the league and on a windy day they managed to put in a decent first performance. Both teams started lively with possession being equal in the first 30 minutes. With the wind in their favour, Wyke were using the ball with more confidence creating a few chances that forced some good saves from the debutant keeper Ryan Lamb. The defence of Wain, Stenett and Barkworth were holding well and Morritt produced some inspired defending when he ended a strong Wyke attack with his powerful clearance which flew out of college and into the sky (dish). However the pressure finally told when a wind assisted throw wasn't dealt with the in the 6 yard box allowing a flicked header to squeeze in the near post.
East Riding reacted well with some good football between Barkworth, Faulkner and Marshall resulting in some long range efforts that were easily dealt with by the confident Wyke goalkeeper. The best chance fell to Marshall whose speed allowed him to beat the defender to the ball but his half volley went straight into the keeper's hands. Wyke then added a second after a good one-two allowed the striker to finish past the approaching keeper. East Riding College went straight up the other end and some good play by Morritt and Worley ended up in a goal mouth scramble which Wyke managed to clear to safety. Just before half time Lamb was a again called into action producing a good save from a one-on-one goal opportunity.
East Riding College came out confidently in the second half with Stavely and Pilmour becoming increasingly confident on the ball in the centre of the park. With the wind in their favour now East Riding were looking for a goal to get them back in the game. However, after a direct kick from the Wyke keeper eluded Wain and Stenett at the back the Wyke striker ran in to finish well past the oncoming keeper. East Riding's breakthrough came when long throw by Faulkner was flicked into the goal by the aerial dominance of Wain. This inspired the team to push forward and with the game more open half chances fell to Froggart and Marshall but they couldn't convert. East Riding College introduced some changes with Major, Auty and Daily making their debuts. Major was called in to action straight away with 2 good saves denying Wyke another, however the fourth came when a wind-assisted looping cross missed all the defenders and ended going in at the back post.
Man of the Match - Josh Pilmour

East Riding College 1st 9-1 Scarborough 6th Form 2nd
On a perfect day for football East Riding were looking to gain a victory in this double-header against Scarborough 6th Form College. After last week's narrow defeat, East Riding had a strong 14 to pick from and set off out the blocks quickly, having two chances to take the lead within the first few minutes. Scarborough were pressing a little in the early stages and took the lead after five minutes when Belcher found himself in time and space to head over his own keeper M.Wain. Belcher had an instant chance to level matters but his header from a superb Owen cross was agonisingly wide.
East Riding were playing confident football, pressing for the ball and keeping possession for long periods. They were finally rewarded with the equalizer; when Morritt completed a confident run to play in D. Wain who was fouled in the box, Owen coolly finished the penalty in the bottom corner to make it 1-1. Just a minute later more ERC pressure resulted in a corner which was played short to Faulkner who lashed an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net, with two keepers probably struggling to save it. As half-time approached goals were coming thick and fast and on 43 minutes ERC added a third from another good Morritt attack which allowed Owen to pick up his second with a superb finish in the bottom corner from a tight angle; 3-1. It was comfortable for East Riding and the impressive midfield pair of Palmer and Faulkner had two long range efforts fly over the bar before the half time whistle.
ERC introduced Swift and the Rollinson brothers to the second half and started in the same fashion. Great possession created some excellent phases of football and Owen nearly grabbed his hat-trick after a collection of 20-plus passes but rattled the frame of the goal to the keeper's relief. Swift came on and had a big impact picking up his first of the game in the 48th minute followed by a tap-in in the 51st minute, giving East Riding a comfortable 5-1 lead. Things got worse for Scarborough who were unfortunate to go down to 10 players after an injury and the few chances created were marshaled the defense well by Fox, Belcher, Stennett and Morritt. L. Rollinson then made it 6-1 shortly after some good wing play from Richardson created an open goal to pass into from close range. Swift then had two more easy chances to score, the best being a one-on-one from a long kick by M. Wain, who was a spectator for most of the game. However, on a hat trick Swift, failed to keep his composure and scooped wide. Fox and Morrice were linking well from the back and after some excellent possession ERC added a seventh. A minute later Swift completed his hat-trick with a bullet header from an excellent Richardson cross. J. Rollinson the missed an absolutely glorious chance to make it 9-1, but after choosing not to square it for a tap he shot wide of the mark. The ninth did come in the 85th minute when Belcher played a one-two with Owen whose return over hit pass bent into the top corner. The final whistle followed, completing an excellent result against an unfortunate yet hard-working Scarborough team. Manager Paul Smith said: "This was an excellent team performance where every player looked comfortable on the ball and enjoyed possession, after being on the wrong end of double header last week which meant we couldn't win the league the team worked hard to show great character."
Team: M.Wain (capt), D.Wain, Belcher, Stennett, Fox, Morrice, Owen, Faulkner, Palmer, Richardson, J.Rollinson, L.Rollinson, Morritt, Swift.
Manager's man of the match - Jonny Morritt - showed great skill and character to come off the bench and instantly impact on the game.

East Riding College 3 - 3 Bishop Burton
ERC went into this local derby wanting to forget the disappointment of last week's semi-final defeat against Huddersfield's Greenhead 6th Form. Focus quickly returned back to the league fixture with the team still hopeful of gaining a high table finish once the backlog of winter fixtures can be caught up. There was a lively start to the game with both teams committed to every tackle and Sam Belcher set the standard with an excellent recovery tackle on the opposition striker preventing an early chance at goal. ERC were attempting to pass the ball around and soon got on top Bishop with the majority of play occurring in the opponents' half. Long efforts from Owen, Morritt and Fox all missed the target to the relief of the goalkeeper. The best came midway through the first half when Dom Richardson produced some good wing play to beat the full back and fire the ball across the 6 yard box past both sets of players. The ERC pressure was finally reward when Richardson produced an accurate cross that was met by Rollinson whose swipe shot scuffed into the path of Swift who finished from close range to add another goal to his growing tally for the season. Bishop Burton were playing their way into the game and after a wild challenge by Wain on the half way the opponents took a direct route and forced the ball into the 18 yard box. David Butt ran out to punch clear but the Bishop striker reacted quicker and headed in from 8 yards to draw the scores level. ERC lost some confidence and started to force the play. Fox and Morritt were providing additional attacking options but they couldn't find the final ball into the area. Just before half time a long kick from the Bishop keeper eluded the ERC defence and the striker found himself one on one before smashing the ball past the oncoming keeper to give the visitors the lead. After a motivational half time speech ERC came out lively again and Owen came close to levelling the game when his mazy run ended with a shot going narrowly wide. Pressure continued and the breakthrough finally arrived when Owen won the ball in midfield with a strong challenge before playing in Richardson on the wing who crossed an early ball for Morrice to tap in from a yard. East Riding College were now full of confidence and passing the ball well between the midfielders and strikers and another chance fell to Morrice in the six yard box but his acrobatic bicycle kick failed to provide any threat, resulting in a Bishop throw-in. Lee Rollinson was then introduced for the injured Belcher and he made an instant impact with some good link up play on the right wing which saw Morritt cross the ball onto Rollinson's head and his flick went past the keeper at the near post. ERC looked to extend their lead when Owen played Richardson through and he outpaced his man only to fire his 20 yard shot against the cross bar. The entertaining game went from end to end as Bishop tried to get an equaliser and the third goal came in the last 10 minutes when the opposition striker tapped in from close range after a goal mouth scramble. The game finished 3-3 and although ERC were disappointed not to take all 3 points they were happy with an overall improvement against the top of the league side.
Man of the Match: Wain and Richardson.

Hull College 2 - ERC 7
East Riding College won their fifth game in a row 7-2 against Hull College 1st team to continue their good form. The team had some changes from last week with key players missing, however players returning were more than capable of filling the positions and keeping the shirt for next week's semi-final. East Riding started the game asleep and went a goal down in the first minute after some poor defending and Morritt saw his unlucky clearance attempt just miss the ball. ERC then woke up and were level in two minutes when Richardson created some space in the box to curl the ball beyond the keeper. The away team continued to pressure Hull College on a muddy and uneven pitch and Rollinson missed two easy chances before out sprinting the centre back to clinically finish beyond the keeper. Morrice, Richardson and Faulkner were controlling some good play in midfield and they were rewarded when an excellent run by Faulkner left four Hull players behind and he shot from a tight angle past the weak wrists of the opposition keeper. To his delight Swift added a fourth five minutes later with a powerful finish from the penalty spot which overshadowed his previous miss from six yards. East Riding started the second half like the first and paid the price for not concentrating when a mistake from Butt wasn't dealt with by the defence and the Hull player lobbed the back peddling keeper from 20yards. This woke ERC up and they started to knock the ball around well. Morrit and Fox were pushing forward from defence and created some chances, the best of which fell to L. Rollinson who found himself clear on goal only to scuff wide near the corner flag. The pressure paid off again as Morrice, in a rich vein of goals added two more from within the six yard box. East Riding completed the win with a second for Faulkner who left the defended behind, turn back towards him before curling the ball into the bottom. Another good performance overall but the team will need to improve their concentration before the semi-final game against Huddersfield next week.
Manager's man of the match - Dale Wain - Strong, vocal and committed.
National Cup Huddersfield College 2-2 East Riding College (2-4 on penalties)
East Riding College travelled to Huddersfield this week hoping to continue their run in the cup, with a win over what could have been a tough test. East Riding made four changes from last week.
East Riding started the better team, and had numerous chances to take the lead within the first 15 to 20 minutes. Faulkner had a shot that the opposition keeper was equal to and Owen blasted over from a wide angle. Morrice also had the chance to score from a header which missed the target. Things were looking good for East Riding and Huddersfield only had one shot which harmed East Riding but keeper Butt made a superb save diving to his right hand side to keep the scores level. The defence of Morritt, Belcher, Stennett and Wain were having superb games and gave Huddersfield very few chances to score in the first half, and East Riding got their reward when a corner floated in fell to Morrice-Nugent, who tapped into the net from six inches to continue his good goal scoring form and at half time East Riding led 0-1.
East Riding were looking for much of the same again and wanted to try and capitalise on the good spell they enjoyed in the first half. Palmer in midfield was energetic as was J.Rollinson to try and make chances for Faulkner and Swift up front. Faulkner had the best chance to double the lead with a free header which hit his head and went over from six yards. Against the run of play Huddersfield scored when a free kick was floated in and breakdown in communication from Stenett and Butt allowed a free header into the net to make it 1-1. Huddersfield started to press a bit more and East Riding were holding firm, until about a few minutes later, the striker looked offside and when left 1v1 with Butt, he made a decent save only for the follow up to be squared across for the striker to tap in and make it 2-1. In added on time Morrice and Faulkner linked up well down the wing to win a corner which Owen played in with quality. The ball came off Wain and on to Swifts hip to grab the equaliser and send the game to penalties 2-2 after normal time.
Penalties again and Huddersfield went first with them scoring first and then Owen scored his. Butt saved two of the next three Huddersfield penalties with Faulkner and Palmer scoring theirs. The deciding penalty went to ERC captain Belcher who coolly despatched it and sent East Riding through to the next round. Twice in two weeks a win on penalties and twice keepers have saved two, East Riding hope to continue their run in the cup and make it all the way.
Team: Butt, Morritt, Belcher (c), Stennett, D,Wain, Morrice, Owen, Palmer, J.Rollinson, Swift, Faulkner, L.Rollinson, M.Wain.

St Mary's College 1-1 East Riding College 1st (2-4 on pens)
National Cup
East Riding College travelled to St Mary's in Hull knowing that it would be a tough game. With a few players being unavailable at the last minute, East Riding travelled with a small squad and knew the task ahead would be tough. First team debuts were handed to Ryan Swift and Kane Firth.
The game got underway and East Riding started the stronger, passing and moving fairly well and creating a few half-chances without prevail. The defence of Morritt, Belcher, Stennett and D. Wain, who was in an unfamiliar left back role, were defending really well and gave keeper M.Wain little do within the first period. St Mary's started to get a foot in the game now and created a few half-chances which didn't trouble the goal or the score. Belcher then completed a good sliding tackle which the referee saw as a foul causing frustration from the ERC team. The free kick was crossed in and the ball missed everybody rolling beyond keeper M. Wain. The score was 1-0 and ERC looked disappointed after dominating the first half. The score remained 1-0 to St Mary's College at the interval..
The second half began and East Riding knew they would have to be on top of their game to stay in the cup tie. The team talk worked as East Riding started the better team and created numerous openings. Owen in midfield was energetic as ever and Faulkner was supporting the forwards with some excellent forward runs. It was only a matter of time before East Riding scored and they eventually equalised when Kane won a free kick after a positive run. Owen produce a dangerous cross and Jordan Elliot tapped in from close range. East Riding were playing well and pushing for a winner but St Mary's nearly took the lead when a ball in to the area was dropped by Wain after a foul by the striker was ignored by the referee. In the following goal mouth scramble D. Wain cleared off the line well with some excellent athletic ability. The game went on and again many half-chances were created with the attacking line of Morrice, Swift and Owen all coming close. The best chance went to Dom Richardson, who magnificently headed over the bar from underneath it which would have clinched the game for East Riding. In the final seconds Faulkner also had a penalty shout turned down and was given a yellow card for diving acrobatics. The game finished 1-1 and went to penalties. Firth and Belcher both scored and St Marys both scored to make it 2-2. Faulkner then missed his penalty, but M. Wain saved the next two St Mary's penalties with Owen scoring his, meaning it was all on Morrice to win the game and he did putting it in the corner to seal a remarkable win for the East Riding boys. A great team performance and the lads hope to keep progressing when they play Huddersfield next week in the next round.
Manager's man of the match: The whole team - great team performance and effort from all.
Team: M. Wain (c), Morritt, Belcher, Stennett, D. Wain, Firth, Owen, Faulkner, Richardson, Morrice, Swift.

Pontefract New College 0-1 East Riding College 1st
East Riding College were back on the road again for what would be a tough National Cup tie against Pontefract College. Playing in the middle of Pontefract racecourse the conditions were wet and windy, and after the long journey it would be a tough test for ERC.
East Riding started slow and were nearly punished within the first ten minutes when a loose ball in the box fell to a Pontefract striker who was left alone and out charged M Wain to deny him with a decent save. This kicked East Riding into gear and they started to play some decent football. Owen and Faulkner were getting plenty of the ball in the centre and Richardson and Fox were linking up well on the left wing to create some early chances. East Riding nearly took the lead when Owen hit thunderous 30 yard effort, which the Pontefract keeper got behind and parried to safety. East Riding were creating numerous chances now and playing some neat and tidy football along the floor, carving out many opportunities and D Wain had a chance to score from a Faulkner cross, but unfortunately the score stayed 0-0. East Riding were controlling the first half and full backs Morritt and Fox were playing their part defending astutely. East Riding again nearly scored through Morrice who made a great run and was expertly picked out from the exceptional Faulkner, but he couldn't get the faintest of touches to take it past the keeper and the scores stayed 0-0 at the break.
The second half begun and with the game nearly in darkness and the rain hurling down, East Riding were looking to continue the good football from the first half. The trend continued and the passing and movement left the Pontefract players chasing shadows. Faulkner was pulling the strings in midfield, creating numerous openings without any goals. Surely it would only be a matter of time before the deadlock was broken. Richardson nearly scored when he was played through superbly again by Owen, but somehow failed to hit the target. The breakthrough came on 60 minutes D Wain headed a ball across for debutant L Rollinson, who had the simplest of tasks to tap in from about 2 yards out.1-0 to East Riding and it was just what they deserved. Straight after Morrice broke down the wing and had a chance to seal the game when the ball took an awful bobble in the area causing a wild shot wide. With 20 minutes to go, East Riding were looking to keep it tight at the back, as they knew Pontefract with the wind in their favour would bombard the East Riding goal. East Riding were playing backs against the wall stuff and DWain and Stennart were having exceptional games to keep the game at 0-1. The whole team was working well together to keep the score down and Pontefract luckily broke through and thought they had scored when 1 on 1 with keeper M Wain, but he made a terrific left handed save to keep East Riding ahead. Pontefract were pressurising further and had a Rory Delap-like thrower who was causing many problems in the East Riding box. In the final minute they had one last attempt and the keeper came up and met the ball only for M Wain to take the pressure off with a great take and launch up field for the final whistle.
A mention must also go out to substitutes J Rollinson and Hughes who gave manager Paul Smith a few selection headaches for next week's league game with St Mary's College.

Bishop Burton College 2 -0 ERC 1st
After winning the first league game, East Riding College were hoping to continue their winning ways against Bishop Burton College. East Riding started the brighter and were dominating the opening exchanges, passing and moving freely, Dom Richardson was getting in good areas and supplying crosses but the strikers couldn't finish them. Belcher, Owen and Redshaw all had half chances but couldn't finish past the Bishop Burton keeper who was on good form. East Riding felt positive and thought it would be a matter of time before they broke the deadlock. Bishop Burton had some breakaway chances but these were well defended by D Wain, Hughes, Fox and Withell. Mark Wain made one notable save to as the Bishop striker had a snap shot from the edge of the area. The first half finished with the scores at 0-0.
In the second half, East Riding again started the brighter and were playing much of the same football from the first half. However, it was Bishop Burton who showed the initiative and took the lead when a free kick on the edge of the area was spectacularly despatched, giving keeper M Wain no chance. This was the turning point in the game and Bishop Burton started to control the game with East Riding looking shell-shocked. Bishop Burton were dominating now and got a second goal when Belcher hauled down the winger and was subsequently show a yellow card. The ball was floated in and, after a melee in the box, the ball was poked towards goal. M Wain looked to have saved it from going in but the referee deemed it a goal to the shock and disappointment of the East Riding players.
East Riding tried to get a goal back and should have had a penalty when a ball in the box found Morrice, who was pushed from behind. East Riding grew in frustration and captain M Wain was stupidly booked for kicking the ball away, reflecting the overall feeling of the East Riding players. Chances again were few and far between and Bishop Burton should have sealed the game when through one on one as the ball struck the post and was cleared. East Riding had a chance at the end through substitute Revell, but he blazed wide when through on goal and gave Bishop a throw-in! The game finished 2-0. Thanks to Jack Goodlad and Al Rounding for looking after the team while Paul was away.
