Applicants will have experience of domestic and commercial construction; and recent experience in the curriculum area and industrial experience on-site.

Applicants must hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plumbing or electrics; Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy; and a teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE).

The postholder will be expected to work approximately 15 hours per week.

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to continue or enter a teaching career supporting learners to acquire vocational skills in preparation for their employability within the community. The role will provide cover in the delivery of vocational programmes up to Level 3 to mixed ability learners in HM Prisons across Yorkshire and Humberside. 

Trades required are:  plastering;  painting and decorating; tiling; bricks and carpentry.

Responsibilities will include the planning and development of the curriculum, ensuring the highest level of quality in teaching, learning and assessment is provided for learners, managing budgets to ensure curriculum delivery is efficient and reinvestment can be maintained, developing the physical resources to meet demands and playing a key role in contributing to the corporate management of the College.

The Curriculum Area for Engineering covers a wide range of disciplines including manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, motor vehicle and motor cycle maintenance, marine engineering, welding, computer aided design and food manufacturing.

If this sounds like you, you must demonstrate substantial knowledge within one or more areas of the curriculum, and be able to evidence your ability to have maintained high-quality teaching practice; experience of 14-16, 16-19 study programmes, adult and apprenticeship learners; be able to analyse critical data and understand funding methodologies to ensure that you are able to develop the curriculum offer in line with national strategies and sector priorities.

You must hold or be willing to work towards a degree or equivalent and hold a teaching qualification.

You will be required to work at both the Bridlington campus and the new Beverley campus on the Flemingate development which will welcome its first intake of students in September 2015.  The new campus will feature specialist engineering facilities with a specialism in the emerging renewable energy sector.

East Riding College is looking to appoint a Client Services Assistant to work 18.5 hours per week to include three evenings during term time, to provide a high level of customer service to all external and internal customers.  You will provide reception cover to support the College's Learner Services processes.  The role will include switchboard and enquiry handling and other support functions incorporating learner applications, enrolments and various systems relating to financial and welfare support.

Applicants will have recent and relevant experience of working in a front line customer service environment, clerical and administration experience and experience of dealing with enquiries in person, by telephone and in writing.  Intermediate level IT skills to include word processing, spreadsheets and databases are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to organise and prioritise your work load.

Applicants will be educated to Level 2 or equivalent and will hold or be willing to work towards Level 2 Customer Service or an Administration qualification.

The weekly hours during term time will be Tuesday - Thursday to cover evening reception (to 7.30pm) and the remainder of the hours to be agreed with the successful candidate and line manager.  In the College closure period the 18.5 hpw will be worked during daytime office hours but will be agreed with the successful candidate and line manager.

Previous work as a bus/coach/minibus driver and understanding of the type of work is essential, as is  working experience in a Health and Safety aware environment.
