Have you got what it takes to make a difference?

The Governing Body of East Riding College is seeking to recruit a new member.  We are looking for someone with accountancy/audit experience but with time to commit to the role.

We would especially welcome applications from currently under-represented groups on the governing body - women, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minorities.

Our primary focus is the teaching and learning experience of our students. But it is also about ensuring the college assets – staff, facilities and finances – are strong and able to continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve. You will attend and contribute to meetings of the governing body and committees and be a critical friend to and ambassador for the College. Being a governor is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to your community.

Most governors attend around 14 formal meetings a year, alongside the opportunity to attend training/networking events and College events, for example, staff conferences, learner focus groups and award ceremonies. Meetings are held first thing in the morning or in the evening, chiefly at our Beverley Campus. Being a College governor is a voluntary role, where you give of your time and experience to work with other like-minded people to benefit the development of the College and the local community.  Members are, however, encouraged to claim for travel and subsistence whilst on College business.

The College is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and diversity.  It is serious about its safeguarding of young people and any successful candidate will be subject to the relevant checks.
