Level Two Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines (Distance Learning)

This course is designed for a broad spectrum of health care workers who would benefit from a greater understanding of how to adopt good, safe working practices in relation to the dispensing of medicines and medical treatments.

Students for this course will need to be able to relate answers to a current or recent workplace environment. 

The home study courses are designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.

  • Unit 8: Controlled Drugs
  • Unit 9: Common Side Effects from Medicines in the Older Service User
  • Unit 10: Errors Associated with the Administration of Medicine
  • Unit 11: Oxygen Therapy in a Care Home
  • Unit 12: Disposal of Medicines Confidentiality
  • Unit 13: Confidentiality
  • Unit 14: Competency in Clinical

How will I be assessed?

The award is gained from successfully completed coursework so there is no exam to complete.
