Creative Writing, Course Code KO302GXPEA

The course is an introduction to creative writing and it is suitable for both beginners and those who have explored creative writing before.   The focus of this short course is on writing for pleasure rather than publication and encourages learners to explore their creativity as well as developing their writing practice.

What will I study?

Each week the group will focus on a theme, discuss work(s) that relate to the theme and practice writing exercises that help explore it.  There will be opportunities to share work and receive feedback from the group, should writers wish to do so, but this is not mandatory.

Examples of themes that will be discussed:

  • Getting started
  • Writing characters
  • Developing a sense of place
  • Structuring your writing
  • Finding inspiration and experimenting

What next?

There is another creative writing course 'Creative Writing - Experimenting with Form' which runs alternately with this course.  The two courses are the same level and you can start on either course.
