ESOL Skills for Life (Speaking and Listening) all levels

This qualification forms part of the ESOL Skills for Life suite of qualifications and is designed to meet the language acquisition needs of non-native English speakers settled or settling in the United Kingdom.

The qualification is based on the national standards for adult literacy, assuming coverage and use of the adult ESOL core curriculum. It is a ‘full mode’ qualification comprising assessment of speaking and listening, reading and writing. The qualification encourages learners to gain language confidence and competence across a range of economic and social contexts.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments are externally set. There is the opportunity to sit reading, writing and speaking and listening as separate assessments, or as one holistic assessment.

What next?

The qualification enables progression to the Entry Level Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life (Entry two), as well as this and other types of English language qualification at higher levels.

Learners that have achieved an ESOL Skills for Life qualification might also find that their English language skills have improved to an extent that enables them to access vocational and other forms of learning within an English-speaking environment.
