Italian for Beginners Step 1

To enable learners to use and understand simple statements, expressions and questions in common situations. To enable learners to understand simple written messages, questions and forms and produce brief written responses in Italian.

What will I study?

A relaxed, informal course for beginners.  The course will cover the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing within the context of the various topic areas.  These could include general information, travel, accommodation, food and drink, shopping and services and emergencies. The course will introduce the basic vocabulary and language needed to cope with situations you may find yourself in when on holiday or visiting the country.

How will I be assessed?

This is a non accredited course with no exam at the end but the tutor will monitor progress and give feedback.

Entry requirements

No prior knowledge is required for this course but if you have attended a short beginners' course, you will be able to build on skills already acquired.

The tutor will want to find out as much as possible about why you want to learn and what you already know in order to plan a suitable programme.  The content of the course will be discussed and you will be given further details about course materials and other learning resources.  Any relevant paperwork will be discussed and completed at this session.  Please bring a notebook and pen.
