Level Two AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting

This qualification covers the basic accounting principles and techniques, these include double-entry bookkeeping, costing and using accounting software.

Your course fee includes all taught classes, all the required study books, an exam kit, pocket notes and additional online material and support.  In addition, your fee also includes a student subscription for Sage Business Cloud Accounting which you will be able to use for the duration of your Using Accounting Software unit.


This course is available at Beverley starting 9 September, 1 to 4pm, or 12 September, 6pm to 9pm. At Bridlington starting 10 September, 6pm to 9pm or Hull starting 12 September, 9am to 12pm.

What will I study?

The following units:

  • Bookkeeping transactions
  • Bookkeeping controls
  • Elements of costing
  • Work effectively in finance
  • Using accounting software

How will I be assessed?

In order to successfully complete the programme, participants will be expected to undertake a computer-based assessment for each module of learning and a synoptic assessment which draws on content learned in the other units.

Entry requirements

  • AAT Level 1 Access qualification
  • Relevant work-based experience in accounts
  • GCSE Maths and English are desirable

What next?

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting, available at all three East Riding College sites,Beverley, Bridlington and Hull.

Additional information

All AAT learners need to register as an AAT student on the AAT website which does incur an additional one off admission fee plus an annual AAT registration fee.  Your tutor will provide more information on registering with the AAT once you are enrolled on the course or visit the AAT website www.aat.org.uk.
