BTEC Level One Introductory Diploma in Art and Design

Skills-based qualification designed to help learners develop the personal and social skills needed to help them to progress to independent living, future employment or further vocational study. 

What will I study?

You will study a selection of units which includes:

  • Being Organised
  • Developing a Personal Progression Plan
  • Working with Others
  • Researching a Topic
  • Creating an Art Image
  • Creating a 3D Art Object
  • Presenting an Image Using a Camera
  • Designing a Product
  • Planning and Marketing an Exhibition
  • Creating a Mood Board
  • Creating an Artefact Using Clay
  • Creating Prints

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through practical activities and written coursework, depending on the subject matter.

How will the course be delivered?

Delivery will be in the classroom, alongside set independent work. There will be opportunity to work off site, using the art equipment to enhance your studies.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of two GCSEs grade E/2
  • Or Skills for Life qualification
  • Or entry level three qualification
  • Or equivalent

Interviews for full time courses starting in September are postponed, but don't worry - applicants will instead be given a formal offer of a place on a suitable course. Other entry requirements still apply.

What next?

On successful completion of this course, you may progress onto Level 2 Art and Design or another level two course.
