BTEC Level One Introductory Diploma in Digital Media

This course aims to give you basic skills and understanding of media theory and production techniques. It is suitable for people who would like to progress to further study at level two and above but do not yet meet the entry requirements.

What will I study?

You will study a selection of units which include:

  • Being Organised
  • Developing a Personal Progression Plan
  • Working with Others
  • Researching a Topic
  • Creating a Storyboard
  • Designing an Interactive Presentation
  • Producing an Advert
  • Layout Design for a Digital Product
  • Creating an Animation
  • Shooting a Short Film
  • Making an Audio Recording
  • Editing and Sharing a Media Product

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through practical activities and written coursework, depending on the subject matter.

How will the course be delivered?

Delivery will be in the classroom, alongside set independent work. There will be opportunity to work off site, using the media equipment to enhance your studies.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of two GCSEs grade E/2
  • Or Skills for Life qualification
  • Or entry level three qualification
  • Or equivalent

What next?

On successful completion of this course you may progress onto UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology or another level two course.
