Level Three Award in Hybrid Vehicle
The ever-increasing popularity of hybrid vehicles means it is essential for the motor vehicle professional to develop their knowledge of their critical safety and technological features and the hazards they present, which are different to traditional vehicles.
East Riding College is now offering courses on hybrid electric vehicles which were developed by the IMI, in consultation with Honda, Toyota and BMW.
This is a two-unit qualification for those technicians who actually work on the hybrid system and therefore require detailed knowledge of the system and the potential dangers when working on the high voltage system. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely in and around the vehicle's hybrid system.
What will I study?
- Hybrid system components and operation
- How to work safely on hybrid and related vehicle systems
- Maintenance and repair methods when working on hybrid vehicles
- Fault diagnosis and repair methods working on hybrid vehicles
How will I be assessed?
Knowledge is tested via a multiple-choice test, and the skills via oral questioning and a practical assessment.
What next?
On completion of this qualification (containing two units), technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills required for repairing vehicles with high voltage hybrid technologies
