Level Three BTEC National Foundation/Extended Diploma in Business
This is a work-related course, with projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations and activities found in the world of business. It is a means of gaining a broad understanding of business.
This course is available as part of a full-time study programme for 16 to 18 year olds, and as a part time course for adults aged 19 and over. Please ask learner services for details.
What will I study?
6 units in year 1 including:
- Exploring Business
- Developing a Marketing Campaign – externally assessed
- Personal and Business Finance - externally assessed
- Managing an Event
- International Business
7 units in year 2 including:
- Principles of Management – externally assessed
- Business Decision Making – externally assessed
- Recruitment and Selection Process
- Team Building in Business
- Digital Marketing
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is a combination of external examinations and assessments and internally assessed assignments, practical tasks and presentations.
How will the course be delivered?
This course is classroom based and you will be encouraged to use our on-line learning resources to further support and develop your knowledge and skills away from the classroom. Guest speakers and external business-related activities really bring your business subjects to life.

Interviews for full time courses starting in September are postponed, but don't worry - applicants will instead be given a formal offer of a place on a suitable course. Other entry requirements still apply.

This qualification can lead to career opportunities in marketing, finance, human resources and management, as well as other business-related careers. You may also progress onto a higher level course, such as the Foundation Degree in Leisure Management or Public Sector Management delivered at East Riding College and validated by University of Hull.
All study programmes contain English and maths elements.
You will undertake work experience as part of this programme.
