Level Three BTEC National Foundation/Extented Diploma in Business

This is a work-related course, with projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations and activities found in the world of business. It is a means of gaining a broad understanding of business. 

What will I study?

 

6 units in year 1 including:

  • Exploring Business
  • Developing a Marketing Campaign – externally assessed
  • Personal and Business Finance  - externally assessed
  • Managing an Event
  • International Business

 

7 units in year 2 including:

  • Principles of Management – externally assessed
  • Business Decision Making – externally assessed
  • Recruitment and Selection Process
  • Team Building in Business
  • Digital Marketing

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is a combination of external examinations and assessments and internally assessed assignments, practical tasks and presentations. 

How will the course be delivered?

This course is classroom based and you will be encouraged to use our on-line learning resources to further support and develop your knowledge and skills away from the classroom. Guest speakers and external business-related activities really bring your business subjects to life.

Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs grade A*-C/4-9 including Maths and English
  • Or level two diploma (merit)
  • Or first diploma (merit)
  • Or NVQ level two
  • Successful interview demonstrating motivation and commitment to the course

What next?

This qualification can lead to career opportunities in marketing, finance, human resources and management, as well as other business-related careers. You may also progress onto a higher level course, such  as the Foundation Degree in Leisure Management or Public Service Management delivered at East Riding College and validated by University of Hull.
