Level Three NCFE Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity

The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity is for learners who are looking to developgeneral knowledge and interpersonal skills to support them into higher education when taken as a programme of study.

The NCFE Level 3 Diploma (540) in Sport and Physical Activity is designed as a one year , full-time course covering the skills, knowledge and understanding to support progression either into employment or onto further study.

The NCFE Level 3 Diploma (720) in Sport and Physical Activity is designed as apart of a two year programme, usually in combination with other qualifications to support the aspirations of the learner. This qualification will also support learners who want to progressintro higher education, ultimately leading the learner into employment.

The NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity is designed as a full two year programme for learners who wish to develop their skills ansd knowledge of the sector. This qualification supports learners interested in progressing to higher education.

  • 0ffer breadth and depth of study, through a choice of 4 specific pathways
  • provide opportunities to acquirea number of practical and technical skills.

  • give learners the opportunity to investigate career opportunities in the sport and physical activity sector
  • allow learners to choose content which relates to their own interests, aspirations and progression choices.

  • Analysis of sports performance
  • Organising sports events

Year Two

  • Fitness testing for sport and exercise
  • research project in sport and exercise
  • practical individual sports
  • physiology of fitness
  • sports nutrition technical and tactical skills in sport
  • instructing physical activity and exercise
  • sport coaching
  • applied strength and conditioning

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is a combination of externally and internally-set assessments, practical tasks and presentations. 

How will the course be delivered?

This practical course is classroom or gym-based, with some outdoor, off-site and online delivery.  We may utilise both campuses as part of your course.  You will be expected to use our on-line resources and encouraged to utilised wider online industry-related platforms (eg  FA-learning resources) to further support and develop your knowledge and skills away from the classroom.

Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs grade 4 9/ A*-C/ including Maths and English
  • Or level two diploma (merit)
  • Or first diploma (merit)
  • Successful interview demonstrating motivation and commitment to the course

What next?

You could go on to employment in the sport and leisure industry, obtain a sports Apprenticeship or progress onto a higher education course. Should you decide to go onto higher education there is also an opportunity to amend your programme to ensure that you have the required UCAS point for a foundation degree with options such as sports studies, leisure management, sports coaching or our Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences and BSc (Hons) Sports, Coaching and Health Sciences (Top-up)
