Level Two Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship
This Apprenticeship is suitable for those working in roles such as a care worker, activity worker or personal assistant. The setting could be a residential or nursing home, domiciliary care, a day centre or a person s own home. Some clinical settings may also be suitable.
What will I study?

- Causes and spread of infection
Dementia Awareness
Meeting personal care needs
Move and position individuals
Support individuals to eat and drink
And many other topics from optional units
How will I be assessed?
Through achievement of the level 2 diploma and through end point assessment. The synoptic end point assessment will include two distinct components. Firstly, the completion of a situational judgement test answered through a multiple choice exercise and secondly a professional discussion.
How will the course be delivered?
Weekly attendance at college for Health and Social Care theory and functional skills lessons.
Mixture of work-based and progress assessment both written and observational to be completed in workplace.
Entry requirements
Undertake the Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result prior to starting.
The individual must meet the 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate. The Care Quality Commission expect that providers that employ healthcare assistants and social care support workers follow these standards to make sure new staff are supported, skilled and assessed as competent to carry out their roles.

This apprenticeship provides an ideal entry into the occupation and supports progression within the sector. Once undertaking additional responsibility within the workplace it is possible to progress onto the Level 3 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship.
