Level Two Award in Nail Technology

On this course you will learn all the essential skills needed to become fully qualified in the application of acrylic nails.

Acrylic nails are one of the best methods of creating stunning nails. Through a mixture of both practical and theory knowledge you will learn how to design, apply, maintain and remove the acrylics.

What will I study?

  • Health & Safety in the salon
  • Anatomy & physiology of the arm, hand and nail
  • Understand contra-indications that prevent or restrict the application of acrylic nails
  • Complete consultations, plan and prepare for acrylic nail treatments with client
  • Carry out tip application and product application
  • Carry out maintenance and removal of acrylic nails
  • Be able to provide aftercare advice for client

How will I be assessed?

This is a City & guilds Level 2 qualification.

Observation of assessments carrying out acrylic nail services, orally questioned to show understanding and knowledge of what you have learnt.

Online theory tests to show understanding and knowledge of what you have learnt.

How will the course be delivered?

Each session will begin with theory delivery and then practical tasks.

You will be required to have a manicure certificate and your health & safety unit

Entry requirements

Completing the Level Two Manicure course would prepare you for the skills needed on the Nail Technology.

If you don't currently hold a valid health and safety certificate you will need to complete the Level Two Award in Health and Safety (£35 fee) alongside this course.

What next?

Set up your own business. This could be a mobile service or a contract to work in salon, gyms, hotels and spas.

If you are already a Beauty therapist then this is an extra qualification which is a hugely popular service within the industry and will give you more job opportunities.

You will need to purchase a uniform and kit from the college supplier

There will be an additional cost of £30 for health and safety unit
