Clearing

What's clearing?

For all full-time higher education (degree level courses) you must apply through UCAS.  Clearing is the service UCAS run from July to September. It is mostly for applicants who have not yet accepted a place on a course at university or college or who have not yet applied.

It is useful for people who:

  • Are applying through UCAS after the standard UCAS deadlines (i.e. between July and September)
  • Are not holding an offer from a univeristy or college
  • Have not accepted any offers

All this can be done on the UCAS website (for full-time courses)

See UCAS' guide to clearing and their Clearing FAQs:

Who can I speak to?

You can speak to us anytime about HE, clearing or your application by calling 0345 120 0044.

Speak to us in person at one of our Higher Education Coffee Mornings.

What if I want to study part-time?

If you're applying to study part-time you don't need to use Clearing.  Simply choose the course you want to study through the course search and click Apply part-time (the blue button) on the course page, or come to one of the Higher Education Coffee Mornings for a chat.
