East Riding College is proud to announce that student Ann-Marie Cooper from Leven was a finalist for the High Level Achievement award held at the Humber Learning Awards Ceremony at the Reids Hotel in Barton.
Ann Marie joined East Riding College aged 26 to study on the Access to Higher Education course.
Ann Marie said "I had lost all my confidence as a single parent and it was very hard for me to return to study. With the College's help and a Learning Support Fund ,which contributed towards childcare costs, I was able to concentrate on my course. This enabled me to achieve my Access Combined Pathway qualifications including English, History, Psychology, Sociology and IT. I felt my knowledge and skills shone through in English and I am now studying for an English degree and teacher training at The University of Hull.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at East Riding College and made lots of friends all of whom have progressed onto Higher Education."
Access Tutor Ray Kirby said "I was extremely impressed by the level of commitment shown by Anne Marie and indeed all the Access students. I would encourage any adult who has doubts about returning to study to think again and make contact with the College."
