East Riding College Share Good Practice

7th April 2006 10:42am - Return to press releases

East Riding College was invited by the Learning and skills Council (LSC) to attend an Adult Learners Grant Conference in Leeds.

The conference was set up for new providers and partners who will be part of the 2006/07 expansion into West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire areas. The College participated in 'panel' sessions with other AGL advocates, sharing good practice and answering questions on their success.

A student aged 19 or over, studying on a full-time course, may earn up to £11,000 per year from a part-time job and still be eligible for £30 per week from the grant.

Dennis Young, Advice and Guidance Manager said "The College has achieved excellent results in reaching 120% of our projected target for the number of students receiving the grant which in turn has allowed them to remain on courses which lead to good levels of qualification. This makes East Riding College, nationally, the most successful college currently taking part in the scheme."

If you are thinking of enrolling at the College for a September start and would like more information about the Adult Learners Grant please contact East Riding College at Beverley on 01482 306609 or at Bridlington on 01262 458873.
