College Adds Fire to its Health & Safety Qualifications

Bruce Merrells, Course Tutor for Health and Safety programmes at East Riding College.

East Riding College has been given approval by NEBOSH to offer the brand new Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management. This course will be offered along with the NEBOSH General Certificate and National Diploma.

The new Fire Certificate will help businesses meet the new Fire Regulations which start to have affect on 1 October 2006. The course is aimed at those

people appointed by organisations to carry out Fire Risk Assessments.

The programme will start in January 2007 and will run for 26 weeks with completion in June.

Bruce Merrells, tutor said "The tutors on the course will include core members of the highly successful NEBOSH General Certificate team (pass rates regularly at 80% plus) supplemented by experienced fire officers. Anyone who has a pass in the National General Certificate may be able to get exemption from one of the two modules".
