Two East Riding College students Patricia Tinson from Flamborough & Jean Curr  from Lund have scored one of the top five marks in  GCSE Spanish  and GCSE French respectively.

35,112 candidates entered for  the GCSE  Spanish examination and 114,455 for the French.

Michael Cresswell, Director General of AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance) said "May I congratulate Patricia, Jean and staff on such an outstanding achievement".

Jean said "I took the course for interest, not really wanting to take an exam, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it with excellent support from the tutor Lesley Kelly.  I am now progressing to AS level French"

East Riding College has seen a steady increase in the number of students taking a language course.  The results this year have been excellent with over 80% achieving A* and A grade in GCSE French, Spanish and Italian.
