Students Celebrate Success

East Riding College held its Higher Education graduation ceremony on Saturday 4 November at The Bridlington Priory, to celebrate student achievements on a wide range of Higher Education courses.

The event was very well attended, and guests included The Mayor of Bridlington, Councillor Leslie Taylor and Guest Speaker Mr John McNichol, from The University of Huddersfield. But most importantly for the students, family and friends were there to share in the occasion.

Students from East Riding College celebrate their success at the College on HE programmes.The range of qualifications achieved reflected the growing number of Higher Education courses offered by the College including, Access to Higher Education, Certificate in Education, Higher National Certificate in Business, Higher National Certificate in Computing and Foundation Degree in Applied Digital Media.

Following the ceremony, the students and their families returned to The College's Bridlington site for a buffet and light refreshments, provided by The College?s catering students.

Sally Welburn, aged 20 from Bridlington enjoyed a double celebration, she achieved her Foundation Degree in Applied Digital Media but she also received the Student of the Year Award. Each year the tutors of the College nominate one student who has stood out as being exceptional, this year Sally?s tutors decided that her high standard of work and can do attitude deserved special recognition. Sally was presented with a Shield and a cheque for £100 by Val Quigley, Curriculum Head for Art, Design & Media.

Derek Branton, Principal said "Many of the courses are studied on a part-time basis, with students balancing full-time employment, family commitments and study. They are to be congratulated for their dedication and achievements".
