Hairdressers Compete

At the Blackpool International Hairdressing Championships: from left ? right Zoe Pearson, Course Tutor, Sonia Thompson, Toni Smith, Lucy Cressey & Sikhululiwe Sibanda.

All Year 1 hairdressing students at East Riding College took part in an in-house competition to gain a place at the Blackpool International Hairdressing Championships.

The Competition was held at the College?s Gallows Lane site on 24 January 2007. The students competed in two categories Blow Drying (to produce a short day style by blow drying) and Put Ups (an evening style).

The winners were:
First place Sonia Thompson (Put Up). Joint second place Toni Smith & Sikhululiwe Sibanda (Put Up) and third place Lucy Cressey (Blow Dry).
All four students will compete in Blackpool on 5 March 2007 in the hope of winning recognition at an international level.

The winners received vouchers and hair care products. Course Tutor Zoe Pearson, said ?I?m very proud of that the students achieved, their efforts were of particularly high standard which made the judging very difficult, I wish all of the finalist lots of luck in Blackpool?
