College Celebrates Receiving National Quality Award

East Riding College has received the prestigious national quality learning award from the Trades Union Congress. The Unionlearn Quality Award was given in recognition of the high standards of training delivered by the College to the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the Fire Brigades? Union. The learning programme involved Computer skills courses being delivered in fire stations across Humberside.
John Denham, Secretary of State, Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, presented East Riding College?s Head of Trade Union Studies, Ron Oldfield, with the award at a national ceremony in London.
The work of the College?s Trade Union Studies Centre represents one wing of the College?s employer engagement activities which works with employers and union representatives to upskill workforces throughout the sub region.
On receiving the award, Ron Oldfield, Head of the College?s Trade Union Studies, said, ?East Riding College has a long tradition of working with adult learners and supporting the TUC's Skills for Life initiative and training trades union learner representatives. This Unionlearn Quality Award gives national recognition to our staff for the innovative work we have undertaken with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the Fire Brigades? Union."
