East Riding College Students' Scoop Dream Jobs on Cruise Liners

Two East Riding College students have scooped dream jobs working in hair and beauty on board cruise liners.
Brogan Howarth, 18, from Bridlington, and Emma Reed, 20, from Beverley, will begin training for their new roles later in the summer.
Brogan has just completed her two-year NVQ level three in Beauty Therapy at the College?s site in St Mary?s Walk, Bridlington.
She was unsure about whether to apply for a job on the cruise liners but was delighted to be offered an interview by Steiner, a company which provides staff for more than 116 luxury cruise liners all over the world.
She attended a one-day interview which involved carrying out practical tasks to test her skills, as well as the verbal interview.
Brogan has been told provisionally she will be sailing from Miami on Caribbean cruises. She said: ?I can?t believe I got the job. I?m so excited to go but sad to leave everyone at the same time.?
Her tutor, Tina Mount, said: ?Brogan has proved to be a popular and capable student with a wicked sense of humour.
?Always positive, motivated and willing to help her colleagues, Brogan has developed a mature rapport with her clients.?
Hairdressing student Emma Reed has overcome severe dyslexia to complete NVQ levels one, two and three since starting at the College in 2004. She will also start work Steiner in October and will be sailing from?
Emma said: ?I?ve learnt more than I could have hoped for at College and I?ve really grown in confidence during the four years I?ve been here.
?I can?t wait to start working on the cruise liners. It?s an amazing opportunity for more to see some more of the world.?
Tutor Linda Cross said: ?Emma is an extremely competent hairdressing she is an asset to the salon where she works. She oozes enthusiasm and is a joy to teach. ?It?s great news she has got such an interesting job. She has worked hard and deserves her success.?
