Cheque 1 web 264x177.jpgStudents from East Riding College have presented Dove House Hospice with a cheque for £2,000 following a charity ball and auction.
The event was held in the Wilberforce Suite at the KC Stadium in Hull, with more than 120 people attending.
Organised by Beverley-based year two BTEC National Diploma students, the event aimed to raise funds for and awareness of the Hull-based charity.

Karinda Jones, the charity's fundraising co-ordinator, said: "On behalf of everyone here at Dove House Hospice I would like to thank all the students who spent many months planning the ball and auction for their hard work and determination.
"They have raised a fantastic amount and this will go straight towards helping local people who have life limiting illnesses.
"The hospice has a yearly running cost of £4.7million and is funded for the equivalent of just 91 days, the costs for other 274 days we have to raise for ourselves.
"Without events like this the hospice could not stay open and continue to offer specialist palliative care to people in Hull and East Yorkshire."

Student spokeswoman Marie Pockley said: "Presenting the cheque to Dove House Hospice was a great moment as it represented the culmination of months and months of planning and hard work.
"We are really happy with the total amount we raised and the experience of organising an event on this scale will benefit us all in our future careers."

Lecturer Ellen Smuts said: "It was really satisfying to see the students handing over the £2,000 they generated for Dove House Hospice through all their hard work and dedication.
"The event they organised was a major undertaking for a group of young people and they should be proud of the thoroughness and professionalism they demonstrated in planning and executing it."
