Take a tour of new campus
10th July 2009 3:44pm - Return to press releases
East Riding College will throw open the doors of its stunning new £17m Bridlington campus for a series of open days next month.
The events will give people the first glimpse inside the state-of-the-art building in St Mary's Walk, which is nearing completion and will welcome its first students in September. College staff will move from the existing buildings in August.
Richard Sellick, project manager for the College, said: "This is an exciting time for the College, and students and staff are really excited about moving across to the new campus.
"We are looking forward to showing off this fantastic building to members of the public and prospective students at our open days in August."
The open days give people an opportunity to look round the new campus with a member of College staff. They will be held on the following dates:
- Saturday, August 22, from 10am to 1pm
- Thursday, August 27, from 2pm to 7pm
- Friday, August 28, from 2pm to 4pm
Teaching staff will not be available during the open events, although advice and guidance officers will be present from 2pm to 4pm on August 27 and 28.
The 6,200 square metre new campus has 44 teaching rooms - ranging from top-of-the-range standard rooms with the latest in teaching technology to entirely new commercial areas like hair and beauty salons, a restaurant and a travel agency.
Facilities will also include an extensive Learning Resource Centre, which will combine library and IT facilities, a fitness suite and a new sports pitch.
Subjects taught at the new campus will include Construction, Engineering, Art and Design, Humanities, Early Years and Care, IT, Business and Administration, Catering and Hospitality, Sport and Recreation, Travel and Tourism, Hair and Beauty, and Foundation Programmes.
The new campus has been built on the grassed area at the College's St Mary's Walk campus. The existing buildings will be taken down when the new ones are completed.
