Tasty menu for Yorkshire-themed fundraiser
10th December 2009 10:34am - Return to press releases
Students from East Riding College's Bridlington campus have teamed up to hold a charity fundraising dinner on Thursday, January 7.
The Yorkshire-themed evening will see catering and hospitality students preparing and serving traditional Yorkshire food in the College's Archers Restaurant, with proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
It has been organised by students Tara Day, Tracie Stubbs and Naomi Lister, who are on the second year of the Advanced National Diploma in Travel and Tourism, as part of a unit on planning and holding a conference or event.
Tara, 19, from Bridlington, said: "It was a challenge to develop an event which would attract paying customers but we know people living in the Bridlington area are proud Yorkshire folk and we thought they would respond to this.
"The students and staff from catering and hospitality have been a great help to us and have come up with a tasty menu for the evening, so we're hoping we can fill the Archers Restaurant."
The menu for the evening is leek and pork sausage with mash, Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy; followed by pan-fried chicken breast stuffed with Wensleydale cheese wrapped in bacon with a dessert of trio of Yorkshire curd, rhubarb bavarois and brandy snap basket with liquorish ice cream.
A raffle will be held, as part of the evening, with prizes donated so far including tickets to Flamingo Land, York Dungeon, Jorvik and Burton Agnes Hall. To book a table for the event, call Archers Restaurant on 01262 455063.
