East Riding College has nominated Jade Webb as a VQ Learner of the Year 2010, a national award to celebrate vocational achievement and showcase the best in vocational qualifications. Jade completed an NVQ level two in Beauty Therapy, gaining the chance to progress on by taking the level three beauty therapy course.

Tutor Nicola Cooper said: "Throughout the qualification she has worked conscientiously, her attendance has been excellent and she consistently meets all targets set before their deadlines.
"She has developed highly professional practical treatment skills and her through clients who visit our salon."

The VQ Learner of the Year Awards are part of VQ Day, a national celebration of the people who gain vocational qualifications every year.  VQ Day aims to raise the stature and demonstrate the benefits of practical and vocational qualifications to future learners, employers, opinion formers and the wider public.  The VQ Learner of the Year Awards recognise learners in each age group who are shining examples of excellent academic achievement - learners who have made considerable achievements in a vocational field.

This year, eighteen regional winners across two categories (24 and under and 25 and over) will be selected from across England and invited to attend the national VQ Day event on 23 June 2010, which will take place at London's Royal Horticultural Halls. Here, entertainment icon Arlene Phillips will announce the two English national VQ Learners of the Year.  The VQ Learners of the Year winners for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be announced at events held within the individual nations.

Jade said: "I am highly motivated to succeed within the beauty therapy industry and my goal is to continue studying holistic massage and therapies in order to pursue my career further and open up my own salon specialising in all aspects of massage.
