Art works on show at Ferens
3rd May 2011 1:33pm - Return to press releases
Three art and design students from East Riding College have been selected to show their work at an exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull.
Bridlington residents Tristan Lyons, 16, Rachael Nicholson, 20, and Poppy Gilson, 17, who all study on the National Diploma in Art and Design at the Bridlington campus, have had their pieces accepted for the Hull Museums and Galleries live project Connect>Create.
The 2011 exhibition is based around the themes "culture scene investigation" and "identity".
The students' works are as follows:
- Tristan: A wood engraving of a fossil called 'The Mammoth's journey'
- Rachael: An illustration of the 'Musings of the Lady Bridget'
- Poppy: 'A pop-up story including a mammoth'
Tutor Penny Kealey said: "Poppy, Rachael and Tristan have done really well to earn a place at the Connect>Create exhibition, which puts on show a fascinating variety of works every year.
"To see your work on show is a great feeling and it's wonderful that they have been selected by a professional selection panel for this exhibition at the most prominent art gallery in the area."
Admission to the Ferens Art Gallery, in Hull city centre, is free. The Connect>Create Exhibition runs until May 30. For more information about art and design or any other courses at East Riding College, visit www.eastridingcollege.ac.uk or call 0845 120 0037.
