Free summer school for aspiring apprentices

Young people whose ambition is to become an apprentice can get help and advice during a four-day summer school this month.
The free Pre-Apprenticeship Summer School will provide assistance for those who are looking for an employer through CV workshops and job searching.
It will also look at the 20+ vacancies the College is currently advertising on behalf of companies who would like to employ apprentices.
The four-day course will take place at East Riding College’s Beverley and Bridlington campuses starting on July 23 and 25 respectively (two days per week at each campus).

Alison Gray, assistant director at the College, said: “Apprenticeships are a very popular choice for young people who are thinking about their next steps in education, training and work, especially those who have just left school.
“However, it is essential to have a job before you can start your apprenticeship and this can be a stumbling block for a number of people.”
She added: “Our Pre-Apprenticeship Summer School aims to assist people who want to become an apprentice by helping them become more employable and better at promoting themselves to potential employers.
“This includes by improving their CV, helping with applications, preparing for interviews and searching for jobs.”
