Successful Beverley Company Appoints Apprentices

A Beverley company is sharing its success by recruiting for new apprentices through East Riding College.
Design and manufacturing company Routec, in Borwick Drive, has taken on six apprentices in technical and production administration, reception and the engineering/manufacturing departments as a result of expansion.
They were recruited through the College and the successful candidates now spend four days each week developing their skills and knowledge at the company and one day at College, studying towards qualifications relevant to their role.
Routec specialises in point of sale displays and has worked with major brands such as Debenhams, Boots and M&S, as well as international outfits like Tag Heuer, Sony and L'Oréal Paris, as well as supplying into the leisure and furniture, fixtures and equipment industries.

Chantel Richardson, business development representative for East Riding College, said: “These apprenticeships are excellent news for younger jobseekers in the Beverley area.
“It can be very difficult to make that first step into employment, without work experience on your CV, but apprenticeships provide the ideal opportunity to do just that for applicants who can demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment.”

Rebecca Coleman, production planning manager  for Routec, said: “We are delighted to be in a position to take on six new apprentices as a result of growth in the business.
“We firmly believe that apprentices are an excellent way of taking on new people and ensuring they develop in a way that ensures Routec has the skills necessary for continued success and the apprentice gains skills and qualifications which will benefit their future career.”

Apprentices are recognised nationally as crucially important to enabling the UK economy to grow by ensuring employers have access to workers with the skills they need.
They enable employers to train new and existing staff according to the needs of the business in a high quality and cost-effective way which covers hundreds of job roles.
For the apprentice, they offer an opportunity to develop skills through working and qualifications at College, all while earning a wage.
East Riding College is a major provider of apprenticeships to employers throughout the region and recruits for jobs linked to apprenticeships all year round.
