Students going Dutch at charity event

Travel students at East Riding College are going Dutch next month by holding a European themed charity fundraiser at the College’s Bridlington campus.
On January 8, the group will be holding a European fair from 11.30am to 4.30pm to take inquiries and bookings for European short breaks and holidays through the College’s full service travel agency, New Horizons.
It will be followed by a three-course Dutch dinner service in the College’s Archers Restaurant, with proceeds being shared by Macmillan Cancer Support, RSPCA, Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation and Oakwood Dog Rescue.
There will also be a seven per cent discount on all Superbreak (www.superbreak.com) bookings made through New Horizons from January 7 to 14 and everyone making a booking will be entered into a prize draw to win a bottle of champagne. The prize winner will be announced on January 15.

Kirstie Harris, 28, from Driffield, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming members of the public to our European fair and Dutch dinner service.
“Dealing with inquiries and making bookings for paying customers is an important part of our course and we’re delighted to be offering a discount on Superbreak bookings.
“We have already made our first bookings for the evening so we are encouraging people to reserve their table before all the places are snapped up!”

Tutor Katrina Diamantis said: “The students have got excellent events planned for both the day and the night so we’re expecting a good turnout.
“We’re also really pleased to be offering a discount on Superbreak bookings so there will be some great value deals available.”

The day-time European fair will be held in the reception area at the campus in St Mary’s Walk, Bridlington, and is open to members of the public.
The themed evening will begin at 6.30pm and tickets cost £17 per person, to include a three-course meal, Dutch cheese and biscuits and a selection of Dutch beers. There will be a raffle, with several prizes, including a Dutch hamper, to be won on the night.

Tickets are limited for the evening event and booking as soon as possible is recommended. Deposit is a non-refundable £10 per person. Gift vouchers are also available for the evening.
