Higher education open events this week
13th June 2016 4:17pm - Return to press releases
People who are thinking of doing a degree or another higher level course can discover courses offered locally at two East Riding College open events this week.
And visitors will also be able to learn more about free summer short courses which aim to help those making the step up to higher education.
The open events will take place on June 14 at the Beverley campus and June 16 at the Bridlington campus , both from 3pm to 7pm.
They will be an opportunity to find out more about more than 40 degree and other higher level programmes on offer at the College, as well as details of highly competitive tuition fees and student loans.
Paul Smith, assistant director for higher education, said: “These open events are a great opportunity to find out more about our excellent range of degrees, higher nationals and other higher level courses.
“We provide opportunities to student locally in subjects such as art and design, health and social care, sport, IT, teacher training and much more.
“Our tuition fees are well below the average, student loans are available and the resulting qualification is still awarded by one of our two validating universities, Hull and Huddersfield.”
The free two-morning summer course, entitled Preparing for Higher Education, will be held on two occasions starting on Saturday July 9, and Saturday August 6, both from 9.45am to 12.30pm.
They will cover topics including research methods, referencing, writing frames and preparing seminar papers.
The aim of the courses will be to help students prepare to study at higher level, increase their confidence and to enhance their existing study skills.
