New directions

Young people and adults not currently in education and looking for a new start in the New Year can take a new course at East Riding College.  Running for the first time as a part-time course, New Directions is a way to get a qualification and work experience at the same time. There are progression opportunities onto Traineeships and Apprenticeships after 6 weeks of training.

Alison Gray, Assistant Director of 14-19 and Adult Developments said, “I’m really excited about this new offer.  This is the first time we’ve offered this kind of course part-time for January and we’ve extended the options to give people even more choice.”

The subject areas students can now choose from include Construction, Business, Childcare, Media, Motor Vehicle, Health and Social Care, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism and Information Technology.

All options include learning the skills employers demand, to give students better employment prospects.  They will also have the opportunity to take up work experience and brush up on English and maths.

Alison continues, “Anyone of any age could choose this as a way back into education, or as a way to get ready for working life - getting the skills employers demand.  Students are supported all the way, and it’s a great opportunity for anyone not sure about their next steps, who wants to start 2017 off in a positive way.”

For more information or to enrol, call 0345 120 0044 or drop into Reception at East Riding College in Beverley or Bridlington.  The College is open until 21 December at 3pm and reopens on 3 January 2017.
