William Jackson Food Group won the Training Champion - Large Employer award at the annual East Riding College awards in March. The prestigious ceremony held in the Royal Hall at the famous Bridlington Spa honours students, employers and staff for their outstanding achievements.
The Hull-based food group, which owns Aunt Bessie’s, Abel & Cole and Jackson’s Bakery won for their approach to apprenticeship scheme development. The Group have led from the front on the provision of new training opportunities for the people of Hull and the East Riding.
Angela Marshall, Talent Development Manager for the company said, “William Jackson Food Group is keen to develop and since the introduction of the apprenticeship levy we have worked hard to build a transformational apprenticeship scheme throughout our organisation.”
Richard Sellick Assistant Director, Business Developments from East Riding College said, “The company’s openness, supportiveness and recognition of the positive impact training opportunities can have on those least likely to be able to gain employment is one of the reasons they are worthy award-winners. This approach, and working collaboratively to develop and implement these training opportunities makes them a best-practice employer and valued community partner of East Riding College. They are living up to their values and giving local people within their community the best possible prospects.”
