East Riding College have come out on top in Government National Achievement Rate rankings for apprenticeships.
The College is bucking the national trend for apprenticeships in more ways than one, with healthy recruitment and a timely achievement rate in the top 10% nationally. Timely achievement of apprenticeships is a key measure of success, meaning that apprentices have completed their framework or standard early, or in the time allocated at the outset, which varies dependent on the job role and type of apprenticeship. Intermediate Apprenticeships typically take between 12 and 18 months to complete, whilst Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships can take from two to five years.
Richard Sellick, Director of Business Programmes at East Riding College said, “I think one of the reasons why we are doing well is because we work so closely to with our employers to develop the provision and support them with recruitment and vetting.”
Eco Modular are one such company that the College work closely with. They also won the Training Champion award at the recent annual East Riding College awards. The Hull-based modular building company, which specialises in high quality and cost effective environmentally friendly buildings won for its proactive approach to the development of its staff and the support it provides to help them achieve.
Dan Pollard, Chief Manufacturing Officer for the company said, “We’re growing fast, which means our staff development programmes are key to helping us get to where we want to be. We’ve worked with East Riding College to deliver training that ensures the highest standard of workmanship, which is key to our success. We value the partnership we have with the College and our latest apprentice David Wadsworth, an ex-East Riding College student joined us on stage to collect our award.”
Richard said, “Eco Modular’s highly collaborative way of working, their approach to the development of their staff and their communicative partnership with the College business development team typifies the kind of relationship that leads to timely achievement rates and our continued success. It really is a symbiotic relationship. They are a forward-thinking company who value the benefits of a trained workforce, and we are delighted to be able to support a company with their track record who want to develop highly skilled individuals.”
Something seems to be working for the College, who are also number one in Yorkshire for employer satisfaction with a 97.3% satisfaction rating according to the FE Choices survey commissioned by the Education and Skills Funding Agency earlier in the year.
