Another rising star signs to Music Academy label

Student Tia Ellis has signed a recording contract with East Riding College’s own record label Academy Records.  Tia, aged 17, is a singer and pianist from Bridlington. She started playing the piano at the age of six and has only recently started performing live as a soloist, but is now taking on gigs and performances throughout the region.

She is writing her first songs and intends to release a single and an EP while studying for a level 3 extended diploma in music at the College’s St James’ site in Hull. Her biggest dream is to become a professional vocalist and keyboard player, playing in different venues around the world.

Tia signed up with East Riding College’s Academy Records label in June.  Tutors Martin Jones and Adam Dowd, who both have extensive experience and links with the music industry will mentor her to develop her talent and help her explore her potential music career.

East Riding College’s Music Academy and Academy Records are producing credible, talented artists, who are going on to succeed in the industry.  Local lad Jack Parker, also from Bridlington has forged a successful career playing gigs and festivals across the UK and abroad since leaving the Academy with a HND in Music. He has been embraced by the folk music community as an emerging talent and credits the College with having giving him firm foundations in the industry.
