East Riding College student Jasmine McCann has been awarded a scholarship from the Lords Feoffees of Bridlington.
Jasmine, aged 19 from Bridlington won a place at the Manchester Fashion Institute, part of Manchester Metropolitan University to study Fashion Promotion after completing her BTEC Diploma in Fashion at East Riding College in July. Jasmine, who will start her degree in September, was one of many who applied for scholarship funds and underwent a formal interview process to win the grant.
The Lords Feoffees have awarded scholarship grants to students from Bridlington for decades, giving hundreds of promising individuals support with their university studies. The grant of £1,200 for three years is to assist with the costs of studying.
Jasmine said, “Because on the course I’m doing I’ll be using specialist software like Photoshop, so I want to use the scholarship money initially to buy a Mac book computer so I have the equipment I need to work on my designs. It will really help, I can’t wait to start my course and I’ll be keeping the Lords Feoffees updated as to how I’m getting on.”
Jasmine, who lives with her proud Nan, Margaret Fenton (pictured with Jasmine) excelled on her college course, producing a fashion magazine as part of her final project.
Course tutor Beth Jacob said, “I’m so pleased Jazz has been awarded this scholarship to support her with her university studies. She worked hard during her time at the College and was one of my most driven and enthusiastic students. She’s really creative and made the most of her opportunities with us, and I am sure she will do the same at university. The Institute is one of the best places to study a specialist course and has a great progression rate into the industry, I’m sure the Lords Feoffees have invested in a future star.”
