East Riding College awarded silver NEBOSH status
23rd September 2019 4:48pm - Return to press releases
East Riding College has been award silver status in NEBOSH’s Learning Partner Programme. NEBOSH is a global provider of health, safety and environmental qualifications and its Learning Partner Programme is a new scheme which recognises accredited providers like the College for their commitment to giving NEBOSH students the best learning experience possible.
The Programme evaluates providers against a set of criteria considered global best practice. The criteria or ‘principles’ include providing engaging learning and appropriate course materials, employing qualified, knowledgeable and engaging tutors, and giving useful learner feedback and support.
East Riding College was found to exceed these principles and was awarded Silver learning partner status as a result.
NEBOSH student Bryan Price, Logistics Manager at British Steel recently provided feedback to tutors on the course saying, “My success is absolutely down to your excellent standard of instruction, and the way that you taught us. You actually taught us Health and Safety very thoroughly and you ensured that we understood it – you did not treat it as a cramming exercise, just to pass an exam. Consequently: even months later, I can still clearly visualise many of the examples and cases that you quoted, in order to bring a rather dry subject to life.”
Mike Welsh, Principal and Chief Executive of East Riding College said, “We’re delighted to hear that we have already attained silver status and we are looking to ‘go for gold’ very soon. East Riding College is dedicated to providing excellent support to all of our students, and it’s important for the employers we work with and industries we serve in our region that we provide high-quality training opportunities for those working in occupational health and safety, to help improve well-being and safety in workplaces everywhere.”
NEBOSH and IOSH courses are the industry standard professional qualifications for health and safety training, and East Riding College is an accredited centre for both types of qualifications, offering provision which ranges from one day introductory courses to 12 week certificates.
The courses are delivered out of the College’s Hull site, with training delivered by experienced tutors in a classroom environment and candidates supported throughout the course and qualification.
The NEBOSH qualifications are delivered by industry experts and East Riding College students achieve exam pass rates of up to 92%, which is exceptional for this type of professional qualification.
