College announces partnership with Hull City

East Riding College has announced that it is the new official education partner of Hull City Football Club.  The two year deal advances the existing relationship between the two organisations and develops the provision of apprenticeships and training to the Club.

The agreement makes the College Hull City’s approved apprenticeship provider and preferred supplier.  Like many football clubs, Hull City are a levy-paying employer and want to take full advantage of the training opportunities available to their current employees through the levy.

The deal also guarantees the provision of work placement and work experience opportunities to the College’s students on courses from hospitality to event management and may also see the College using the Club’s ground, the KCOM stadium, for events in the future.

The agreement also makes the College the Club’s ‘shorts sponsor’ to help raise awareness of the partnership.  This sponsorship gives students studying media at the College exclusive access to the players for the creation of East Riding College ‘shorts’ – a series of short interviews with players at the Club.  This presents a valuable ‘live’ brief for the students, whose final work will be shown on the screens at home games and used on social media.

Mike Welsh, Principal and Chief Executive at East Riding College said, “We’re delighted to be able to work with Hull City Football Club as their official education partner.  The partnership solidifies our relationship with the club and affords unique and exclusive opportunities for our students.  As the biggest football club in our region, performing at the highest levels, our association with the Club not only benefits our students but also helps Hull City to develop their workforce through apprenticeships and professional programmes.”
