Remembrance Day Commemorations

The College marked Armistice Day with an impeccably observed two minutes silence at all campuses.  At Flemingate music tutor Martin Jones commenced the two minute silence by playing the moving Last Post trumpet call.

Poppies fell from the second floor balcony as students and staff gathered to mark the two minutes silence, remembering the generations who have fallen in a moving ceremony coordinated by public services tutor Vince Brennan.  He and his students also organised for the fallen soldiers’ silhouettes to be displayed on the first floor landing, and for ex-service personnel to attend the ceremony at the campus.  The moving tribute was broadcast live on Facebook and students and staff from the Bridlington campus gathered in the Bistro to watch it live on the big screen.  At both campuses the enrichment team organised a display honouring staff and student family members who has served in the armed forces, and at St Mary’s Walk Colin Lane’s students made a display about the purple poppy – honouring animals that served during wartime.
