The Principal, Danny Metters, and Vice Principal, Helen Wooldridge had the pleasure of welcoming the newly formed East Riding College Ambassadors to the Beverley Campus on Friday to discuss the local community that the College supports, the political landscape which is ever changing and a focus on the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) and the introduction of the Skills Advisory Groups. The Ambassadors include Kerri Harold (Cllr for Beverley and Holderness), Jim Harris (Centre manager at St Stephens Shopping Centre Hull), as well as other local influencers, business owners and patrons; Paul Downey, Michael Glover, Karen Guest, Alex Denholm, and John Doris to name a few.
The ERC Ambassadors are steeped in the community, business and political landscape and are championing the educational work East Riding College does, aligned to employer led skills demands of the now and the future.
The LSIPs plan to set out the key priorities and changes needed in the local area to make post-16 technical education agile enough ensuring a better match between the supply of and demand for the skills employers need to thrive and boost productivity, as well as helping to drive greater collaboration between providers to realise the benefits of economies of scale and specialisation. The LSIPs are being driven by the Chamber of Commerce, LEP, Employers and Educational Leaders.
If you are a stakeholder, or local employer who would like to be involved in curriculum design to meet the employer needs for the future, or work with the skills advisory groups, please do get in touch.
Also look out for our employer led curriculum transformation event helping to shape the educational landscape of the future.
