East Riding College currently has an exciting opportunity available to join our team in School Liaison and Guidance Services, in the role of Guidance Officer.  The successful applicant will provide a professional, client-focussed information, advice and guidance service to provide our learners with the best experience of College life.

The Position

As a Guidance Officer, you will provide a professional, knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and responsive learner-focussed service, and provide a service that supports and facilitates learner participation, attendance, retention, achievement and progression.  You will work together with the wider Learner Services team to ensure the provision of a professional, high quality, integrated information, advice and guidance service which is accessible and available to all learners.  You will also provide information, advice and guidance to learners on the availability of support, financial support, welfare and counselling services.

The post will be based at our state of the art campus in Beverley, with some possible travel between our campuses in Bridlington and Hull.

This position is fixed term for up to 1 year, to provide cover for maternity leave.

What we need from you

You will have recent and relevant experience of providing information, advice and guidance, and knowledge of quality frameworks, including the National Matrix IAG award and the Quality in Careers Standard. An understanding of the Governments Career Strategy including the Gatsby Benchmarks with some experience of providing careers education guidance would be desirable. 

You will possess a relevant level 3 qualification in a related area, or be willing to work towards this, level 2 (or equivalent) literacy and numeracy, and have good communication and IT skills.  A careers education or information, advice and guidance qualification would be desirable.
