Due to expansion and growth, East Riding College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative assessor to join our team in Catering and Hospitality.

The Position

As an Assessor, you will be responsible for carrying out NVQ assessments and training related to catering and hospitality disciplines, as well as managing the on-site restaurant.  You will prepare, develop and deliver relevant training to candidates, and maintain accurate records of their progress.

The hours for this post are 8 per week, ideally over 2 days.  The post is currently fixed term to 19 July 2019.

Applicants should have experience of assessing a range of qualifications, and previous experience within industry related to the curriculum area.  Vocational experience in a classroom setting would be desirable.

Ideally, the successful applicant will possess a relevant level 3 qualification, TAQA Assessor Award, A1/A2 or D32/33, and hold or be willing to gain Level 2 (or equivalent) Literacy and Numeracy qualifications.

The Position

As an Assessor, you will carry out NVQ assessment within the prescribed routines set by the awarding bodies and the College Quality Manual.  The postholder will have a base at our fantastic Flemingate site in Beverley but will be travel between all the College sites and to work placements, meetings and to arrange and take part in learner/employer visits.

Although this position is advertised as 29.5/30 hours per week, consideration will be given to further part time hours for the right candidate, with the possibility of a job share.

What we need from you

You will have recent and relevant experience of assessing learners on Business Administration apprenticeship programmes within the workplace, ideally working with the new Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship standard. Experience of Internal Verification of NVQ’s would be highly desirable.

You will possess a level 3 Business Administration qualification, level 2 (or equivalent) literacy and numeracy, and a TAQA Assessors Award or hold A1/A2 or D32/33 and have been updated to TAQA standards.

The Position

As a Workplace Coordinator for English and Maths, you will lead on the delivery of responsive, employer-facing skills training within the curriculum area.  You will work closely with the Business Development Unit to engage new and existing employers to achieve targets for learner recruitment and income generation.  You will be eager to meet and exceed the College’s achievement targets in English and Maths, as well as having an involvement in the delivery of Functional Skills English and Maths using eFunctional Skills and the blended learning model. 

This post will be based at our state of the art campus in Beverley, with some possible travel between our campuses in Bridlington and Hull, as well as to employer sites across the region.  This post is part-time, working 22.5 hours per week, with working days to be discussed with the Head of Curriculum.

We have outstanding outcomes in Maths for both 16-18 year old’s and adults which were within the top 10% nationally in 2016/17 compared to other General Further Education Colleges’. So if you strive to be the best, then East Riding College is for you.

What we need from you

You will have recent and relevant experience in the training, assessing and delivering of Functional Skills English and Maths, ideally in a workplace setting.  You will have experience of managing and tracking apprentices and their timely achievements, and ideally experience of meeting income targets.

You will possess a level 3 qualification (or equivalent) within English and/or Mathematics, level 2 (or equivalent) Literacy and Numeracy qualifications, and a level 3 teaching qualification.  Assessors awards and/or an Internal Verification award would be desirable.
