Equality and Safeguarding

Equality and Diversity is split into 3 manageable units:

UK employers are often looking to improve both equality and diversity within their companies, so having an equality and diversity qualification is a great addition to any CV.

In 2015-16, a total of 102,470 safeguarding enquiries took place in the UK. Over 50% of these cases involved physical abuse and neglect, making these the most common cause of safeguarding alerts. Have you ever thought about how you could help protect innocent and vulnerable people who might be suffering from abuse, harm or neglect within the adult health and social care industry?

Our Understanding Autism course will give you an understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism. You will look at the person-centred approach and the influence that positive communication methods can have and will gain an understanding of how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

Having a learning difficulty means that people find it harder to learn certain skills. As this affects around 15% of people, it is important for those working in health care, social care and education to have knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties such as ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia.  By completing this qualification, you will gain knowledge of how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported.

Research has found that over half of children aged 11 to 16 have been bullied about their appearance, with 40% targeted at least once a week. With this in mind, it has become more important than ever to address the issue of bullying among children and young people.

This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of how to recognise and prevent radicalisation and extremism, the principles of safeguarding, the Prevent duty and its importance in society, and the importance of online safety and British Values.

Recent findings have demonstrated that 3.3% of all pupils in schools in England have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, in comparison to only 3.1% in 2019. A further 12.1% of all pupils who do not have an EHC plan have Special Education Needs (SEN) support within the school environment – this is an increase from 11.9% in 2019. This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including equality and diversity in the context of SEND and legislation and guidance around this helps promote this.

This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of what equality and diversity means and how to promote diverse and equal societies, as well as exploring the four British Values and positive equality movements.
