What is the course about?

This course has been designed by jazz musicians, for jazz musicians. It is aimed at students who demonstrate the potential to pursue a jazz career in the music industry.

The course is built around structured band rehearsals and instrumental study but provides comprehensive tuition and guidance in all areas relevant to a career in music.

What next?

  • Higher education - degrees in Popular Music, Music Technology, Commercial Music, Performing Arts
  • NVQ level four Advanced Performers' Certificate
  • Degree in Contemporary Popular/Performing Music including Access to Music's degree courses in London and Manchester

There are many examples of students securing contracted employment or becoming self-employed in the music industry directly as a result of studying on this course.

Entry requirements

  • Level two at distinction grade or four GCSEs at grade C or above
  • You must also possess appropriate musical skills and experience as a jazz practitioner (normally around two years' instrumental experience). The ability to read music is not essential. You will be called to audition on the strength of your application. No one will be accepted without an audition.
